The apartment is situated in a quiet area, close to the city of Marina di Ragusa and the beach. A short walk, just about 800 meters, brings you to the beach and the city centre. You will find sandy beaches on both sides of town and these are very popular among the Italians and tourists from the rest of Europe. Usually around 5000 people lives here, but during the high season, this number grows to more than 60.000 people. Many comes here by boat and you will, therefore, see lots of life in the harbour area. Actually this marina, is the biggest in Sicily, and can accommodate more than 800 boats. The entire area around Marina di Ragusa, invites to activities on the water. Here you can rent jet ski, try windsurfing or rent a boat. If you prefer activities on land, you will find plenty of options to do so.

The closets attraction, is the city of Ragusa. A beautiful city with around 75.000 habitants. The city dates back to the 2nd century B.C. The old part of the town, is situated on a small hilltop.

In the year 1693, the city was hit by a major earthquake, which killed more than 5000 people. A part of the city, is therefore build after the earthquake, with several buildings in baroque style from the 17th century. The city has an upper and a lower part. The lower part is called Ibra and here you will find many charming streets from the 17th century, beautiful buildings and a nice church from the 15th century

The stunning Duomo di San Giorgio is also well worthy of a visit. It is a beautiful cathedral from 1775, situated right next to the Piazza Duomo. Enjoy a cappuccino in one of the many small cafés when you need a break.

When you are on vacation in the southern part of Sicily, then you should visit the city of Syracuse. You will find the city about 100 kilometres from Marina di Ragusa and it’s one of the oldest cities in Italy, founded more than 800 years B.C. You will not find many cities, with so many historical monuments, like in Syracuse and the old part of the town, Ortigia. Filled with history that goes all the way back to the times when the Greeks founded the city. It’s simply impressive to walk around and see all these old buildings and sights in Ortigia.
